UCSF Named Among Top Hospitals Nationwide



After surveying close to 5,000 hospitals nationwide, U.S. News has named UCSF Medical Center to its distinguished Honor Roll of top U.S. hospitals. The list was compiled by examining performance in the 16 adult specialties, along with data on death rates, patient safety, infection rates as well as reputation within the community.

California Health Line reports that the Golden State had two other hospitals make this short, reputable list. Joining UCSF, UCLA Medical Center and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles were also recognized among the top 18 in the country.

U.S. News has also assembled a list of top hospitals in California by the amount of ranked specialties they excel at:

  • UCLA Medical Center, with 15 nationally ranked specialties;
  • Stanford Hospital and Clinics in Palo Alto, with 13 nationally ranked specialties;
  • UCSF Medical Center, with 13 nationally ranked specialties;
  • Cedars-Sinai, with 12 nationally ranked specialties;
  • UC San Diego Medical Center, with 10 nationally ranked specialties;
  • Scripps La Jolla Hospitals and Clinics, with 6 nationally ranked specialties;
  • John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, with 4 nationally ranked specialties;
  • Keck Hospital of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, with 4 nationally ranked specialties;
  • UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, with 3 nationally ranked specialties; and
  • Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, with 2 nationally ranked specialties
